Portrait study of Titi

Soft pastel on drawing paper
50 x 60 cm
drawen direct from the model, Fri 22/02/08

125 euro, (185 inc. pas-par-tout and frame)

As most of you already know, I am posting on this blog works that do not fall under the Wet Paintings project. Almost every Friday morning I organize a life model drawing/painting session in my studio. I like the directness of pastel drawing, especially on this type of support, white paper. Too many corrections and you might as well throw it out.

San Sebastiano, Isola Del Liri, Frosinone

oil pastel, soft pastel and ink on colored board.
28 x 35 cm
made on location Sept. 1988

private collection, The Hague

This work was made shortly after my first visit to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. His influence is no doubt present in this work and the other 9 works made at the time. I was visiting with my uncle and aunt who had a house just about one kilometer down the road in this beautiful mountainous valley, located south of Rome.
